STS, which was founded in 2007, has grown to become the UK's leading student money website. Every day, thousands of students visit the site in search of accurate information and the best deals.

The student protest is saved by its goals and values.

The website Save the Student was created in response to the rising costs of university education in the United Kingdom. The website offers students free, unbiased advice on how to make their money go further.

The things we write about here are not taught in school.

The goal is to reduce the amount of debt students are expected to carry upon graduation. We believe that understanding your (often borrowed) financial situation is more important than ever.

No student should have to drop out or postpone applying to university because of a lack of funds.

We work tirelessly to create a resource that students and graduates from all backgrounds regard as trustworthy and useful. This is what distinguishes Save the Student from the many other student websites available. Our ethos requires high-quality content.

Aside from our own content and campaigns, we are committed to making monthly contributions to UK charities that assist young people in need.

We also committed to becoming a carbon-positive organisation by 2020.

Then and now :

Save The Student has gone through several incarnations since its inception, and this is the seventh version of the website as of 2017.

Owen Burek, then in his first year at the University of Manchester, founded the website in 2007. He began writing down ideas for making money as a student after speaking with a few of his flatmates. Initially, the website was focused on Manchester, but we quickly realised that much of the content applied to students all over the UK.

Owen moved Save the Student from his bedroom to a business incubator run by Manchester Metropolitan University after graduating in 2010.

Today, the growing team is based in East London, making digital waves from a 60-foot yacht (which is less expensive than London Office).
